TECHFEST: IITBombay

Initiated from IIT Bombay
We initiated with our first techfest in IIT Bombay. We participated in their robotics event-"Technovoltz: Block Warrior".
Our manager Abhilash holding the RACC
Our robot:RACC

Specification:

We had used
  • 200 RPM middle shaft motor for wheels
  • 3.5 RPM side shaft motor to move the arm 180 degre
  • 3.5 RPM side shaft motor to lift the arm up and down
  • 3.5 RPM side shaft motor for the gripper
  • Two 12V battery in parallel(12V and 3A)
  • Relay circuit for breaking mechanism
  • Dpdt switch for controlling the robot
  • Rainbow wire to connect  the robot with the remote

Mechanism:
Our robot could pick up light weight blocks,it had moving arm for the doing the same.It was enabled to establish forward-backward movement and right-left movement.we used 5 dpdt switches to control the movement along with the arm and gripper of the bot.Two dpdt(s) for the controlling of forward-backward and right-left direction and other dpdt(s) for controlling the arm 180 degree,up-down,and one for the gripper to hold the block. We used a relay circuit board for the breaking of the motors.
Custom made relay circuit board

This is our custom made relay circuit board. We used 10 relay, 2 relay for each motor.Without this our bot could not traverse through the the sloppy surface. For this feature the bot was capable of traversing nearly 60 degree angled slope.
Along with that,we used spherical gear for the gripping system. We used 3.5 RPM middle shaft motor for better torque.

Task:

Game Play:

  •  The bot had to start from the start zone marked as green color on the arena.
  •  The bot had to cross the hurdles in its path while travelling towards check point 1.
  •  The bot had to grip a block of dimension 100mm X 100mm X 100mm block resting on
  • another similar block and need to submit it at the deposit zone shown in green color in
  •  The bot had to grip the block and fill the void created on the flat surface of ramp
  • assembly.
  •  The bot had to push the two blocks on the ramp so that they fall off the ramp.
  •  The bot had to complete the path by crossing the marble surface.
  •  The bot had to grip 3 blocks, one at a time and make the structure in the form of
  • triangular shape on “Structure Zone” as shown.
  •  Bot had to reach to red colored “End Zone” to complete the run

Conclusion:

Though it was our first tech experience,we enjoyed a lot there. We did complete all the tasks in 5 min and got 16th position out of 159 teams.Top 3 participants were selected to the final zone and only 17 teams was awarded with the certificate of participation and luckily we were one of them.
